The challenge: Turn a small space into a family home.
Presented with a 90-meter ground floor apartment, the challenge was to utilize the preexisting light and outdoor space to develop a comfortable, livable space.
The first step was to identify where and how to incorporate sunlight and greenery. Emphasizing windows in the design, including floor-to-ceiling windows in the kitchen and living room, created harmony with the outdoors; this not only made the home more welcoming, but also took advantage of the rolling landscape outside to add depth to the indoors.
Clean lines, white walls, and minimalistic furniture - especially in the kitchen, with hidden cabinets and appliances - create space and canvases for the family’s belongings. Letting the family’s colorful belongings - drawings, books, photographs - serve as primary decoration, the apartment maintained a balance of clean and modern with warmth and home.
